Summary: This is considered to be one of the top courses in Ireland. A venue for international competitons it is set in an elevated position on cliffs above 3 large beaches. The prevailing winds blowing in from the Atlantic Ocean offer an extra challenge - "when the winds blow, the only hiding place is to be found back in the clubhouse". It has been home to the West of Ireland Championship every year since 1923, except in 1997-9, due to work on the extra 9 holes. Allow an extra day in your itinerary to play this course would be the judgement of most of those who have played here. |
